9 companies allocated spaces in hi-tech parks

The Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority has allotted seven places in Bangabandhu Hi-Tech City in Kaliakair, Gazipur and two in Sheikh Hasina Software Technology Park in Jashore.

An agreement to transfer land with Hi-Tech Park was signed with nine companies at a ceremony held at a hotel in the capital on Thursday.

Under the agreement, Bangabandhu Hi-Tech City in Kaliakair was allocated to Walton Hitech Industries Ltd., Technomedia Ltd., Daffodil Computers Ltd., Celltron Electro Manufacturing Services Ltd., Ulkasemi Pvt. Ltd., Maktel Ltd., Child Health Research Foundation (CHRF) for the next 40 years.

Red Dot Digital Ltd. and Felicity BigData Ltd., on the other hand, were allowed to invest in Sheikh Hasina Software Technology Park in Jashore.

Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority managing director Dr. Bikarna Kumar Ghosh and the heads of nine organizations signed the agreement of land transfer in Hi-Tech Park. At the ceremony, private software technology park declaration permit was handed over to Halima Telecom.

Planning Minister MA Mannan, who was the chief guest at the handover ceremony of Hi-Tech Park, said now is the right time to build a sustainable high-tech manufacturing ecosystem in Bangladesh, where Hi-Tech Park can play a leading role. 

The Minister also lauded the ICT Division of the government and various development works of Hi-Tech Park. “The ICT Division deserves praise for the way it is playing a role in the development of information technology,” he said.

Speaking as the special guest, State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak said Bangabandhu Hi-Tech City is a flagship project of Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority set up on 355 acres of land in Kaliakair. With today’s agreement, 7 companies were allotted places in Bangabandhu Hi-Tech City and 2 companies in Sheikh Hasina Software Technology Park in Jashore. These companies will invest about $55 million here. 

He added that 8 high-tech parks in the country are ready for investment at the moment. Three of these parks are awaiting inauguration. So far, 21,000 people have been employed in high-tech parks. 148 services are being provided in these parks -43 services of these are available online.
