At least eight soldiers killed and five wounded after a group of unidentified gunmen opened fire on a security forces convoy in the southwestern Pakistani district of Panjgur on Tuesday, reports Al Jazeera citing the country’s military.
It is learned that no group has so far claimed responsibility for the attack. However, the military authorities believe that Baloch freedom-loving rebels may be involved in the incident.
Pakistani forces have been fighting an ethnic Baloch armed separatist movement in the region for more than a decade. The main targets of these attacks are mainly members of the security forces including the police and army.
Four Baloch Liberation Army gunmen stormed the country’s main stock exchange in the southern city of Karachi, killing three private security guards and a policeman on June 29.
