7.90 lakh AstraZeneca vaccines on way to Dhaka

A consignment of 7 lakh 90 thousand doses of AstraZeneca’s Covid-19 vaccine is on the way to the country from Germany.
A Qatar Airways flight carrying the shipment of the vaccine is expected to land at Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) on Saturday afternoon.
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has confirmed this information.
It is learned that the German Ambassador to Bangladesh will be present at the airport to receive the vaccine. Lokman Hossain Mia, senior secretary of the Health Services Division will also be present.
Notably, the first shipment of 2,45,200 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine gifted by Japan arrived in the country on July 24. Then the second consignment of 7,81,320 doses arrived on July 31.
On August 2, another 6,16,760 doses of gifted vaccine arrived. Later, the fourth consignment of 7,81,440 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine arrived in Dhaka on August 21. Lastly, the fifth shipment of 6,34,920 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine arrived on August 28.
