71 killed in Churihatta fire: Report deferred again

The court today has set April 5 by deferring the submission of the investigation report in the case of 71 people killed in a fire at Churihatta in the capital’s Chawkbazar. With this, the submission of investigation reports has deferred a total of 17 times.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ashek Imam’s court set the new date for submission of the report on Wednesday.
The case was scheduled to be submitted today. However, the investigating officer of the case, Chawkbazar police station inspector Kabir Hossain, could not submit the report. Therefore, the court set a new date for the submission of the report.
It is to be mentioned that 71 people killed in a fire in Churihatta on the night of 20 February 2019. A local resident named Asif filed a case against 10 to 12 unidentified persons including Sohail alias Shahid and Hasan, sons of the owner of Waheed Mansion, with Chawkbazar Model Police Station.
The case alleges that the accused rented different floors of their four-storey house as a warehouse for combustible materials. Terrible fires are caused by flammable substances.
