7 devotees die at 2nd phase Ijtema

A total of 7 devotees have died due to old- age complications and illnesses, during the 2nd phase of Bishwa Ijtema at the Ijtema venue, since Friday.
Bishwa Ijtema is considered as 2nd largest Islamic congregation after Hajj, started on the bank of the Turag river in Tongi.
Deputy Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police in charge of the control room of Gazipur Metropolitan Police Md. Manjur Rahman said, Sobhan the son of Abul Kasem of Saighata police station in Gaibandha died on Saturday night. His Namaz e Janza was held after Fajr prayer.
Also on the same day (Saturday), around 10:30 am a devotee named Monir Uddin son of Mofizul Islam of Azim Nagar of Hatia police station in Noakhali died of a heart attack.
Earlier, four Muslims died on Friday night. A Muslim died on Thursday (January 16) just before the start of Ijtema. In total 7 Muslims died in the second round of this year's Biswa Ijtema.
