7 cricketers test Covid-19 positive ahead of DPL 

The Dhaka Premier League (DPL) will be played in a few days. This will put an end to the wait of more than a year for the cricketers. This tournament is much desired by all the domestic cricketers of the country. But before the start of the tournament seven cricketers have been infected with the coronavirus. 

There is no star cricketer among these seven. The highest three players from Prime Bank Cricket Club have been tested positive for coronavirus while one cricketer each from Legends of Rupganj, Abahani Limited, Brothers Union, and Prime Doleshwar. 

Out of the seven cricketers, two officials of the two teams were also infected with the virus. One is Taukir Khan of Prime Doleshwar, the other is Abu Reza Mohammad Shariful Hasan of Brothers Union.

After being closed for about 14 months, the suspended DPL is going to start again keeping in mind the risk of coronavirus. This year's competition will be played in T20 format starting from May 31. Everyone involved with the tournament must become negative twice for coronavirus before entering the bio-bubble.

For this, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) took samples for Covid-19 of 269 yesterday (May 26) and today the result came positive for 6 cricketers and 2 officials.

The six cricketers who tested positive for corona are Nahidul Islam (Prime Bank), Amit Majumder (Prime Bank), Monir Hossain (Prime Bank), Shaheen Alam (Abahani Limited), Pinak Ghosh (Legends of Rupganj), Rezaur Rahman Raju (Prime Doleshwar) and Naeem Islam Jr. (Brothers Union).
