7 bogies of Rangpur Express derail; fire at 3

Seven bogies of Rangpur Express derailed. In that time, a fire broke out at three air-conditioned bogies, including train engines, of the Sirajganj-bound train from Dhaka.
The accident took place at Ullapara Upazila in Sirajganj at around 2:00 pm on Thursday. On information, several firefighting units rushed to the spot and are trying to extinguish the fire.
It is reported that about 50 people, including the loco master, were injured in the incident. They were rushed to the local hospital.
Meanwhile, rail communications of Dhaka with the northern and southern districts halted following the incident.
Confirming the information, deputy assistant director of Sirajganj Fire Service Abdul Hamim said that on information, the fire service personnel rushed to the spot. Rescue operations are underway, he added.
Earlier on Tuesday morning, 16 people were killed and many others injured as an intercity train crashed into another train in Kasba upazila of Brahmanbaria.
