‘5G sets now being produced in Bangladesh’

Posts, Telecommunication and Information Technology Minister Mustafa Jabbar today said 11 mobile factories were able to meet 60 percent of the country’s demand for mobile sets.
“5G sets are now being produced in Bangladesh. We are exporting IoT devices,” he was speaking as the chief guest at the signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with BRAC Bank, a body of call center organizations, in the capital on Saturday.
The Minister said Bangladesh has been an import-dependent country for digital devices till now. “Bangladesh is now an export-dependent country in this sector,” he also said.
He said the bank has been playing a major role in the development of industrial trade since the time of the first industrial revolution. We want to hold on to our achievements.
Highlighting the continuity of development of information technology, Mustafa Jabbar said that the call center sector is not only for people who know good English, there is a lot of demand for people who know good Bengali in this sector. “At one time we thought the whole world depended on English. But the present and future world is mother tongue centered,” he added.
