58 held from capital in anti-narcotics drive

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested 58 people for selling and consuming drugs during an anti-narcotics drive in the capital. Different types of drugs including yaba and heroin was recovered at that time.
DMP Deputy Commissioner (Media) Walid Hossain confirmed the information on Wednesday.
The operation was carried out in areas under different police stations of the capital from 6am on Tuesday to 6am on Wednesday.
He said 2,582 pieces of yaba, 33.5 grams of heroin, 50 kg of cannabis, 4 cans of beer, 10 drug injection, 10ltr local wine, and 57 bottles of phencidyl were recovered from them during the arrest.
Walid Hossain also said that 43 cases have been registered against the arrestees under the Narcotics Control Act.
