5200 candle lit commemorating Language Heroes

Crowds erupted at the Jashore Central Shaheed Minar Square on the eve of Ekushey on seventh Falgun evening. The mass gathering was densely increased after the sunset, thousands of people from all walks of life including cultural activists participate in a mass candle lit program commemorating the boundless specifies of the language martyrs in 1952.

A cultural program took place on the occasion of the 68th anniversary of the Language Movement in the evening. Popular patriotic songs were performed there by artists from the country’s different famous cultural groups like Surbitan, Udichi, Surdhuni, etc. The crowd gathered in the afternoon, but it was increased after the sunset. The Shaheed Minar area became erupted with mass people. After the evening, five thousand two hundred candles were lit on the Shaheed Minar altar. The point of this candle is dedicated to the martyrs of the Ekushey language Movement. Along with the politicians, cultural activists, prominent people from Jashore and people of various classes took part in the candlelight event. The Shaheed Minar premises were illuminated with the lighting of 5200 candles.
