5,178 deaths, 179,000 cases reported in 1 day

More than 179,000 people have been infected with coronavirus and the virus claimed 5,178 lives in the last 24 hours across the world, according to the global survey site worldometer. So far, 491,793 people have died from the deadly virus out of 9,711,197 coronavirus cases across the world. Of them, 5,279,633 have recovered.
The Latin American country Brazil witnesses the most deaths of coronavirus on Thursday. The death toll rose to 55,054 after 1,180 people died in a single day. Besides, the number of coronavirus cases in the country rose to 1,233,147 after a total of 40,673 new infections reported in a day.
The United States witnesses 649 deaths in the last 24 hours. The United States is the most affected nation by the deadly coronavirus having 2,504,588 people infected with the virus. Of these, 126,780 have died in the country.
The death toll rose to 24,324 after 947 people died in a single day in Mexico. Besides, the number of coronavirus cases in the country rose to 202,951.
In addition, 15,308 deaths and 491,170 infections have been reported in India. Meanwhile, infections have increased in some European countries after the lockdown. The World Health Organization has warned of a second outbreak of the virus in Europe.
The coronavirus was first detected in Wuhan, the capital of Hubei Province, China in December 2019. The virus, which has spread from China, has so far infected 215 countries and territories around the world.
