5160 beneficiaries paying for DSS, bKash’s mistakes

In Habiganj, 5,160 allowance recipients have to pay for the mistakes of the Department of Social Services (DSS) and bKash authority. They have been living a dehumanized life without getting an allowance for the last 9 months. Day after day, even after going to the DSS and bKash offices, they are not getting any solution. As a result, they have sought the intervention of the concerned higher authorities to get rid of the suffering.
According to the DSS, the government introduced the facility of paying allowances through mobile banking instead of bank accounts at the end of the last fiscal year. For this, the bKash number of each beneficiary is collected.
However, a complication has arisen due to various erroneous information being recorded including the wrong number of mobile number, NID number, and age. Work is going on at the field level and many problems have already been solved. Everyone will be able to get the allowance within 2-1 month.
It is learned that the number of 10 types of permanent beneficiaries in the district is 1,20,520 people. Earlier, they were given Tk 19,90,13,550 every three months through bank accounts.
Beneficiary Fayez Ullah said he is now 97. Various diseases have already appeared in his body. Government allowance was his only source of income – which he used to run all the household activities including buying medicines. He has been in trouble for not getting an allowance for “9 months”.
Councilor Panna Kumar Sheel said many beneficiaries went to his office to seek help. No solution was found even after sending them to the DSS office. They are in trouble for not getting an allowance for a long time.
Habiganj District DSS Assistant Director Mohammad Jalal Uddin said work is underway at the field level. Many problems have already been solved. Everyone will be able to get the allowance within two months.
