50 shops gutted in Ukhiya fire

About 50 shops were gutted as a fire broke out at Mariccha Patabari Bazar of Haldia Palang UP in Ukhiya, Cox’s Bazar on Tuesday night. 

The fire service personnel later doused the fire 2 hours of trying with the help of locals. About crores of Taka were losses in the fire incident, claimed the victims. 

Mohammad Badshah, a UP member of the Haldia Palang UP Patabari area, said there are more than 200 shops in East-West, North-South Mills at the Mariccha Patabari Bazar. 

Locals said that as many as 50 shops were gutted in the fire. During the fire, the sound of the cylinder explosion was heard.

Ukhiya Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abul Mansur said several shops were gutted in the fire. The cause and extent of the fire was not immediately known. However, no one was injured in the incident, he added.
