50 lakh doses of vaccine to arrive country within a day or two: Papon  

Nazmul Hasan Papon, managing director of Beximco Pharmaceuticals, said that 50 lakh (5 million) shots of the three crore doses of Oxford-AstraZeneca's Covid-19 vaccine will arrive in the country within a or two day in the first consignment.  

Papon said this at a function in the capital's Mohammadpur on Saturday morning. He was present as a special guest at the inaugural function of the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) vs Indian High Commission friendly cricket match.

The Serum Institute of India (SII) is the local manufacturer of the Oxford-AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine.

Papon said, "The agreement we have signed with India's Seram Institute to get 30 million doses of vaccine will be brought in phases. Five million doses of the first shipment will arrive in a day or two." 

Earlier, Bangladesh received the shipment of two million doses of the vaccine gifted by India on Thursday, he added.  

The Managing Director of Beximco Pharmaceuticals also inaugurated Udayachal Park in Mohammadpur.
