Five rounds of rocket attacks occurred at a major US base in Afghanistan in the midst of coronavirus panic in the country, however, no casualties were reported by the attacks.

The information was confirmed by NATO forces in Afghanistan on Thursday. The terrorist group Islamic State (IS) has claimed the responsibility for the attack, they said.

The attack happened shortly after the US-Taliban peace treaty. The US and Afghanistan’s Taliban have recently signed a peace agreement where the IS was not under the agreement.

In a social media statement, IS said their members have targeted a helicopter landing pad in Bagram.

NATO said in a statement that five rounds of rocket attacks were launched at the Bagram airbase on Thursday morning. This major US base is located in the northern part of Kabul.

In a Twitter post, a spokesman for the Taliban group said their party was not involved in the attack.
