5-member probe-body formed over writer Mushtaq’s death

A five-member committee has been formed to probe the death of writer Mushtaq Ahmed at Kashimpur High-Security Jail-3 in Gazipur.

Security Services Division under Home Ministry issued a notification in this regard today making its Additional Secretary Dr Tarun Kanti Sikder as Convener of the committee and Deputy Secretary Arif Ahmed as Member Secretary.

Other members are Additional District Magistrate, Gazipur Abul Kalam, Deputy Inspector General of Prison, Mymensingh Md Jahangir Kabir, and Gazipur district prison’s Assistant Surgeon Dr Kamrun Nahar.

The notification said on Thursday evening Mushtaq Ahmed was taken to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital for better treatment as he lost his consciousness suddenly and the on-duty doctors at the emergency department of the hospital declared him dead after examinations.
