5 cops including OC shot in triangular clash

Five policemen including an officer-in-charge (OC) were injured in a triangular clash in Sunamganj’s Chhatak Upazila town on Tuesday night.  

On the issue of extortion in waterways, the bullet firing exchange between the two groups at first. 

On information, policemen led by OC Md Mostafa Kamal went to the spot and tried to bring the situation under control. There, a triangular clash occurred. 

At least 30 people were injured in the incident. Five people including Chhatak Police Station OC Md Mustafa Kamal were shot. 

There was a conflict going on Md. Shamim Ahmed Chowdhury with his brother Chhatak municipality mayor for the last two days over extortion in waterways. With this dispute, the clash occurred on Tuesday night between both sides at Chhatak Upazila town with firearms and domestic weapons, according to locals. 

In this incident, 30 people of both sides were injured, including five policemen, OC, a wheelbarrow driver. The injured were sent to local Chhatak Upazila Health Complex.

SP Md. Barkatullah Khan told that a large number of riot police have been dispatched to the scene to bring the situation under control.
