National Board of Revenue (NBR) has imposed 5 percent VAT on the income of all ride-sharing service companies like UBER, pathao, and others.

The National Board of Revenue gave an explanation on Sunday.

The explanation said VAT is not imposed on users of the service. After dividing the commission between the driver and the ride-sharing company, five percent VAT has been imposed on the amount of commission the companies will receive.

But the driver will have not to pay any VAT on his income from sharing-ride.

On November 22, 2016, US-based Uber Technologies Inc launched their ride-sharing service in Dhaka for the first time in Bangladesh.
