Some 476 expatriate workers have reached Saudi Arabia and Oman on special flights of Biman Bangladesh Airlines and Air Arabia.
The two special flights of Biman and Air Arabia carrying 271 and 205 workers respectively reached the countries from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka.
Airport Director Touhid-ul-Ahsan said there are 12 special flight slots scheduled in five countries throughout the day. In the meantime, three flights have left for Riyadh-Muscat and Dubai. There is no trouble over the flights today. All activities are going on normally.
It has been reported that the government announced the suspension of all international flights from April 14 due to all-out lockdown. However, the government decided to start special flights to five countries - Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Oman, Qatar, and Singapore - to ensure that migrant workers can reach their destinations.
