40m doses to be available by July: Health Minister

Health Minister Zahid Maleque has said that 40 million doses of the Covid-19 vaccine will be available by next July.
“40 million doses of Covid-19 vaccine would be available by July this year. Besides the vaccine invented by Oxford, discussions are underway to bring the vaccines from other countries,” he told reporters at the Ministry of Health at the Secretariat in the capital on Wednesday.
After sufficient vaccine arrives, school-college students will be brought under vaccination considering the schedule, Health Minister said regarding the students’ vaccination. “For this, the age limit for vaccination will be further reduced.”
He added that government employees, who work in different ports, will be vaccinated. And according to the list of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, foreign nationals will be given the Covid-19 vaccine jab.
The minister said so far 3.3 million people in the country have been given the vaccine roll-out and 4.5 million people have already registered.
