40 mounds of Jatka seized in Fatullah

Members of Coast Guard have seized 40 mounds of Jatka from the Fatulla Launch Ghat area of ​​Narayanganj Sadar Upazila. Three people, including a speed boat, were detained at the time.

The Coast Guard conducted the operation at Pagla station around 1.30 pm on Wednesday. Lieutenant Commander Amirul Haque, a media officer at the Coast Guard headquarters, said this on Thursday evening.

He said the operation was conducted on the basis of secret information. At that time, 1600 kg (40 mounds) of jatka was seized from a speed boat and 3 people were arrested.

The arrested are Ujjwal Mia, 33, son of Khalil Hawladar of Sakori Hawladar Kandi village of Jajira police station of Shariatpur district, Ajman Sikder, 35, son of Nurmia Sikder of Narsingdipur village of Sakhipur thana of Shariatpur district and Shahram, 30, son of Shahpur of Sakhipur police station of Shariatpur district. 

However, the three were released on a fine of Tk 5,000 through a mobile court. The arrested speed board has been asked to be kept in the custody of the Coast Guard until further orders by the Executive Magistrate. The seized jatkas were later distributed to local orphanages.
