4 shot in clash over cemetery in Ctg, 13 injured

All of the injured have been admitted to CMCH Hospital on Friday
Four people have been shot in a clash between two sides over the installation of a signboard at a cemetery in Bakalia, Chattogram. Besides, 9 more people were injured in the incident.
The incident took place at Bara Maulavi Cemetery in Hatkhola on Friday morning.
The four who have been wounded from gunshots are – Masud, Murad, Faisal, and Abdullah Kaiser.
The injured are – Jahangir, Tayyab, Joy, Shahidullah, Riaz Uddin, Asif, Mannan, Shahab Uddin Shaon and Samad.
All of them have been admitted to Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH).
According to the locals, there was a long-running dispute between the local Maulavi Bari and the people of Yakub Ali over the graveyard of Bara Maulavi. On Friday morning, there was renewed tension over the installation of new signboards in the cemetery.
“Four people were shot in the clash. Later, the police brought the situation under control. Action will be taken against those involved in this incident,” said Bakalia Police Station OC Ruhul Amin.
ASI Shilbrat Barua of CMCH Hospital police outpost said 13 people were brought to the hospital, including four who were shot. They are admitted to wards 20 and 25 of the hospital.
