4 labourers killed as rod-laden truck overturns

Four labourers were killed when a rod-laden truck overturned on Wednesday afternoon at Anantapur area in Taraganj upazila of Rangpur. Two more people were injured in the incident.
The deceased are – Farhad Hossain, son of Shamsher Ali of Dolapara village of Kursha UP in Taraganj upazila, Khoyrat Hossain, son of Pachu Mahmud of Kishoreganj upazila of Nilphamari, Anil Chandra, son of Bhera Bania of Darjipara and Abu Bakar Siddique, son of Kachi Mahmud of Dolapara area of the same upazila.
Confirming the matter, Taraganj Police Station OC Jinnat Ali said, the truck was going to the warehouse of Atiyar Rahman, a businessman from Taraganj Upazila, loaded with rods from Dinajpur at noon. On the way, the truck overturned on the Taraganj-Burirhat road when it reached the Anantapur area.
At the time, some workers in the truck were crushed under the rod. Later, the locals rescued them and took them to the Upazila Health Complex. The doctors declared the four dead. The injured have been admitted, he added.
