3rd Gender students getting opportunity to enroll at BOU

Bangladesh Open University (BOU) is giving the opportunity to enroll the third gender students in the SSC program. Following this, 15 third gender students of Cox's Bazar are being admitted to Cox's Bazar Government Girls' High School, Cox's Bazar sub-center of the Open University.
On this occasion, a program was organized at the auditorium of Cox's Bazar Government Girls High School on Friday afternoon with the initiative of Hatkhola Foundation and Joydhwani. Hatkhola Foundation and Joyodhwani are two non-governmental organizations working for the overall development of the third gender population.
Women organizer and Cox's Bazar Awami League organizing secretary Nazneen Sarwar Kaberi, Open University Cox's Bazar Deputy Regional Director Shyam Ranjan Karmakar, Cox's Bazar Government Girls High School headmaster Mohammad Nasir Uddin, Cox's Bazar Customs and VAT Deputy Commissioner Sushant Pal, Joydhwani CEO Helal Morshed Sohag and Hatkhola CEO Jannatul Ferdous were present among others on the event.
Third gender students Ankhi, Mohammad Hasan, Zakir Uddin, Rahim Ullah, Maina, Jonaki, Hasan Mahmud Abdullah, Abul Mansur and Ankhimani addressed there expressing their feelings.
Speakers at the event said that an extraordinary journey in the field of education in Bangladesh has started from Cox's Bazar. Which will be a milestone in the formation of an egalitarian, non-discriminatory, happy-prosperous country.
Expressing gratitude to the Open University authorities for opening the door to higher education, the third gender students said, “We need to change the attitude of the people towards us. We will not be discriminated against and deprived if we can create an egalitarian society. We will be able to make a significant contribution to national development by taking higher education.”
