375 homeless families in Pirojpur are getting brick-built houses as a gift from the Prime Minister on the occasion of Mujib Borsho.
The construction work of the houses under the Ashrayan-2 project is almost completed. It is learned that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the project on 23 January across the country simultaneously.
Meanwhile, the beneficiaries are happy to get new houses. Landless and homeless people are coming to the project site every day. They are watching the construction work in their own eyes.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Abu Ali Md. Sajjad Hossain said 375 families in seven upazilas would be given brick-built houses as a gift from the Prime Minister. The two-room houses have a veranda, kitchen and toilet. The cost of the construction of these houses is Tk 1.71 lakh.
“All the work has already been completed. There is a little work left, which will be completed ahead of the schedule. These houses will be handed over after scrutinization,” he also said.
The DC added that every day the beneficiaries come and see the work of their respective houses. They are very happy to get a place from the government. 300 houses will be handed over by the 23rd. The rest will be given in phases.
