37 die in a day, 2202 new infected in country

37 more COVID-19 patients died in the last 24 hours, increasing the death toll from the pandemic to 4,516 in the country. Besides, the tally of infections has surged to 3,27,359 as 2202 new cases were confirmed during the period.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) provided the information issuing a press release on Monday.
According to the release, a total of 15,412 samples were tested at 93 authorized laboratories across the country during the time. A total of 1,644,724 samples have so far been tested since the detection of the first COVID-19 cases in the country.
Besides, the recovery count rose to 2,24,573 after another 3228 patients were discharged from the hospitals during the period.
The first coronavirus death was reported in the country on March 18, ten days after the detection of the first COVID-19 cases.
The coronavirus, that first reported in China late last year, is now affecting 213 countries and territories around the world and two international conveyances. As of Monday afternoon, a total of 27,301,144 people has been diagnosed with the virus worldwide, as the death toll rises to 893,136 while 19,373,230 patients have recovered, according to worldometers data.
