35 die, nearly 2000 infected in a day in country

35 more COVID-19 patients died in the last 24 hours, increasing the death toll from the pandemic to 4316 in the country. Besides, the tally of infections has surged to 3,14,946 as 1950 new cases were confirmed during the period.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) provided the information issuing a press release on Tuesday.
According to the release, the recovery count rose to 2,08,177after another 3,290 patients were discharged from the hospitals during the period. A total of 12,209 samples were tested at 92 authorized laboratories across the country during the time, it added.
Of the total sample tests in the past 24 hours, 15.97 per cent tested positive, while 20.16 per cent cases were detected from the total tests conducted so far, the release added. 66.10 per cent patients among the total infections have recovered, while 1.37 per cent died so far since the first COVID-19 positive cases were reported in the country on March 8.
The first coronavirus death was reported in the country on March 18, ten days after the detection of the first COVID-19 cases.
The coronavirus, that first reported in China late last year, is now affecting 213 countries and territories around the world and two international conveyances. As of Tuesday afternoon, a total of 25,658,983 people has been diagnosed with the virus worldwide, as the death toll rises to 855,186 while 17,959,423 patients have recovered, according to worldometers data.
