35 die in a day, 3009 new infected in country

35 more COVID-19 patients died in the last 24 hours, increasing the death toll from the pandemic to 3035 in the country. Besides, the tally of infections has surged to 2,32,194 as 3009 new cases were confirmed during the period.
DGHS Additional Director General (administration) Prof Nasima Sultana came up with the disclosure joining the daily health bulletin of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) online on Wednesday.
A total of 14,127 samples have been tested at 82 authorized coronavirus testing labs across the country over the last 24 hours. Of these, 3009 have been diagnosed with coronavirus, bringing the total number of positive cases to 2,32,194, she said.
Meanwhile, 2878 more people have recovered from the novel coronavirus in the last 24 hours, raising the total number of recoveries in the country to 130,292, the health official said.
The first coronavirus death was reported in the country on March 18, ten days after the detection of the first COVID-19 cases.
The coronavirus, that first reported in China late last year, is now affecting 213 countries and territories around the world and two international conveyances. As of Wednesday afternoon, a total of 16,908,698 people has been diagnosed with the virus worldwide, as the death toll rises to 663,766 while 10,472,842 patients have recovered, according to worldometers data.
