349 Ansar members infected with COVID-19

A total of 349 members of Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party (BAVDP) have been diagnosed with the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) by 5:00 pm on Monday. Besides, a total of 155 of them have recovered while one died so far.
The Deputy Director (Communications) of the Ansar and Village Defense Force, Mehenaz Tabassum Rabin confirmed the information on Tuesday.
She said a senior officer of the force and 348 members at different levels were infected by the coronavirus. Of them, 288 are in Dhaka and 61 outside Dhaka. Among the infected, there were a deputy director-general of the force, 104 battalion Ansar, 236 affiliated Ansar, a special Ansar, a signal operator, a nursing assistant, two female Ansar, a VDP member and an Ansar commander.
Of the 155 - who recovered from the disease - 58 are battalion Ansars, 93 affiliated general Ansars, a nursing assistant, a signal operator, a VDP member and a female Ansar. All of them joined the office after recovery.
Besides, 177 members of the force are undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital, Kurmitola General Hospital, Kuwait-Bangladesh Friendship Government Hospital, Mugda General Hospital, Rajarbagh Police Hospital and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University.
So far, a member of the force named Abdul Majid has died from the coronavirus on May 11 at Dhaka Medical College Hospital. He, hailing from Bogra, had been working in Bhatara police station of Gulshan division.
