Every year local repairs the bamboo-made bridge, locally known as Sako, to cross the river in the dry season to go to their destinations including the upazila headquarters. School and college going students of 31 villages become the worst sufferers due to the situation. Many students cannot attend the college as the bamboo bridge cannot be used to cross the river due to the increase of water in the rainy season.
Abu Mura of Harinmara said that their demand for construction bridges instead of bamboo made bridge did not fulfill for many years. Kundagram UP member Abdur Razzak said, from 1985 the preparation to build a bridge is going on but it still not completed. He said a bridge should build on an emergency basis.
Chapapure UP Chairman Advocate Shamsul Haque said sufferings of people is increased as there is no bridge at Parghata. The engineering department has been informed about the construction of the bridge.
Admdighi Upazila Engineer Abdul Matin said that in order to construct two bridges in Harinmara and Parghata, the senior authority has already been informed in writing.
