32 die in a day; infection rises in country

32 more COVID-19 patients died in the last 24 hours, increasing the death toll from the pandemic to 5193 in the country. Besides, the tally of infections has surged to 3,60,555 as 1275 new cases were confirmed during the period.
A press release of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) revealed the information on Monday.
According to the release, a total of 11,922 samples were tested at 93 authorized laboratories across the country during the time. Meanwhile, the recovery count rose to 2,72,073 after another 1582 patients were discharged from the hospitals during the period.
The first coronavirus death was reported in the country on March 18, ten days after the detection of the first COVID-19 cases.
The coronavirus, that first reported in China late last year, is now affecting 213 countries and territories around the world and two international conveyances. As of Monday afternoon, a total of 33,328,833 people has been diagnosed with the virus worldwide, as the death toll rises to 1,002,670 while 24,647,700 patients have recovered, according to worldometers data.
