The number of daily coronavirus infections in the world has risen again. In the last 24 hours, 318,804 people have been diagnosed with coronavirus around the world while 5,818 died from the pandemic. India has seen the highest number of infections and deaths during the period.
As of Saturday afternoon, a total of 32,770,787 people has been diagnosed with the virus worldwide, as the death toll rises to 993,555 while 24,178,899 patients have recovered, according to worldometers data.
In India, the death toll from the pandemic has risen to 93,410 after 1,093 people succumbed to the disease over the past 24 hours. Besides, 85,468 new cases have been registered during the period, that pushed the country's COVID-19 tally to over 5.90 million. The total number of coronavirus cases in the country now stands at 5,901,571. India has the second-highest number of active cases and ranks third in the COVID-19 death toll.
The United States, the worst-hit country in the world, has seen the second-highest death toll of 895 in the last 24 hours. The country is still at the top in coronavirus deaths and infections. A total of 208,440 people died in the country due to the pandemic and 7,244,184 have been infected so far.
Meanwhile, the Latin American country of Brazil has seen the third-highest death toll of 826 in the last 24 hours, raising the death toll to 140,709. The total number of cases has exceeded 4.69 million with more than 32,670 new infections.
The coronavirus, that first reported in China late last year, is now affecting 213 countries and territories around the world and two international conveyances.
