30 more die of coronavirus, daily infections rise in country

As many as 30 people have died from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, increasing the death toll from the pandemic to 6305 in the country. Besides, the tally of infections has surged to 4,41,159 as 2364 new cases were confirmed during the period.
Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) came up with the information in a press release issued on Thursday.
According to the release, a total of 17,531 samples were tested at 117 authorized laboratories across the country during the time. Besides, the recovery count rose to 3,56,722 after another 1934 patients were discharged from the hospitals during the period.
Of the total sample tests in the past 24 hours, 13.48 percent tested positive, while 16.92 percent cases were detected from the total tests conducted so far, the release added.
Among the total infections, 80.86 percent patients have recovered, while 1.43 percent died so far since the first COVID-19 positive cases were reported in the country on March 8.
The first coronavirus death was reported in the country on March 18, ten days after the detection of the first COVID-19 cases.
The coronavirus, that first reported in China late last year, is now affecting 218 countries and territories around the world and two international conveyances. As of this afternoon, a total of 56,622,547 people has been diagnosed with the virus worldwide, as the death toll rises to 1,355,905 while 39,416,998 patients have recovered, according to worldometers data.
