30 more die in 24hrs in country, 2686 new infected

30 more COVID-19 patients died in the last 24 hours, increasing the death toll from the pandemic to 2305 in the country. Besides, the tally of infections has surged to 1,81,129 as 2686 new cases were confirmed during the period. 

DGHS Additional Director General (administration) Prof Nasima Sultana came up with the disclosure joining the daily health bulletin of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) online on Saturday. 

A total of 11,193 samples have been tested at 77 authorized coronavirus testing labs across the country over the last 24 hours. Of these, 2686 have been diagnosed with coronavirus, bringing the total number of positive cases to 1,81,129, she said. 

Meanwhile, 1628 more people have recovered from the novel coronavirus in the last 24 hours, raising the total number of recoveries in the country to 88,034, the health official said, adding that “the recovery rate 48.60 percent.” 

The first coronavirus death was reported in the country on March 18, ten days after the detection of the first COVID-19 cases. 

The coronavirus, that first reported in China late last year, is now affecting 213 countries and territories around the world and two international conveyances. As of Saturday afternoon, a total of 12,639,695 people has been diagnosed with the virus worldwide, as the death toll rises to 563,137 while 7,377,783 patients have recovered, according to worldometers data.
