30 more deaths in a day, infection rises

30 more COVID-19 patients died in the last 24 hours, increasing the death toll from the pandemic to 5405 in the country. Besides, the tally of infections has surged to 3,71,631 as 1499 new cases were confirmed during the period.
Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) came up with the information in a press release issued on Tuesday.
According to the release, a total of 12,345 samples were tested at 93 authorized laboratories across the country during the time. Besides, the recovery count rose to 2,84,833 after another 1651 patients were discharged from the hospitals during the period.
The first coronavirus death was reported in the country on March 18, ten days after the detection of the first COVID-19 cases.
The coronavirus, that first reported in China late last year, is now affecting 213 countries and territories around the world and two international conveyances. As of Tuesday afternoon, a total of 35,733,621 people has been diagnosed with the virus worldwide, as the death toll rises to 1,046,518 while 26,892,151 patients have recovered, according to worldometers data.
