30 die in country in a day, 1356 new infected

30 more COVID-19 patients died in the last 24 hours, increasing the death toll from the pandemic to 3184 in the country. Besides, the tally of infections has surged to 2,42,102 as 1356 new cases were confirmed during the period.
DGHS Additional Director General (administration) Prof Nasima Sultana came up with the disclosure joining the daily health bulletin of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) online on Monday.
A total of 4249 samples have been tested at 81 authorized coronavirus testing labs across the country over the last 24 hours. Of these, 1356 have been diagnosed with coronavirus, bringing the total number of positive cases to 2,42,102, she said.
Meanwhile, 1066 more people have recovered from the novel coronavirus in the last 24 hours, raising the total number of recoveries in the country to 1,37,905, the health official said.
The first coronavirus death was reported in the country on March 18, ten days after the detection of the first COVID-19 cases.
The coronavirus, that first reported in China late last year, is now affecting 213 countries and territories around the world and two international conveyances. As of Monday afternoon, a total of 18,252,275 people has been diagnosed with the virus worldwide, as the death toll rises to 693,114 while 11,455,780 patients have recovered, according to worldometers data.
