3 killed as microbus hits covered van in Tangail

Three people, including two brothers, were killed when a covered van parked at Mirzapur in Tangail was hit by a microbus. Another was injured at the time.
The accident took place at the Pakulla area on Dhaka-Tangail Highway of the upazila on Wednesday morning.
The deceased were identified as Golam Mandal Shamim, son of Emdadul Haque of Tiari village in Akkelpur upazila of Joypurhat district, his brother Sourav Mia and a microbus driver. However, the identity of the driver was not found.
Mim Akhter, wife of Shamim, was injured in the incident.
Ahmed Hossain, substation officer of Mirzapur Fire Service, said a Dhaka-bound microbus reached the Pakulla bus stand area on the highway and hit the covered van, as a result, the microbus smashed. Two brothers, including the driver of the microbus, died on the spot. Mim Akhter, wife of the deceased Shamim, was seriously wounded.
He said the bodies had been handed over to the police. The injured have been rushed to the hospital.
