3 killed as train hits motobike in Gopalganj

Three motorcyclists were killed as hit by a train on Vennabari Rail Crossings in Gopalganj Sadar Upazila on Tuesday night. 

Two of the dead were identified as Raju Sikder, son of Siddiq Sikder of Islambagh area of the city, Tanvir Chowdhury Rockey, son of Kamrul Chowdhury of Mohammadpara area. The identity of the other could not be known yet. 

Local residents complained if there were guards here, such tragic events would not have happened. They demanded the appointment of the guard in all the railway crossings.

Gopalganj Sadar Police Station OC Monirul Islam said, “A train left from Rajshahi reached Gopalganj around 11:00 pm. It is being speculated that the three youths hit by a train while crossing the railway line on a motorcycle. They died on the spot.”

“Police rushed to the spot and recoverd the bodies and sent to Gopalganj Sadar Hospital morgue in the morning,” he added.
