3 dead as oil tanker lorry hits scooter in Chandpur

Three people were killed after an oil tanker lorry hit a CNG-run scooter near Faridganj Upazila Health Complex at Faridganj Upazila in Chandpur on Tuesday morning.
The deceased were identified as CNG-run scooter driver Jahangir of Raipur Upazila and Ruma Begum of Charbarali village in Faridganj and Mamun of Sholla village of the Upazila.
Faridganj Police Station OC Mohammad Shahid Hossain said that the accident took place at around 7:45 am today on Chandpur-Faridganj-Raipur regional highway.
The driver of the lorry carrying oil Tankers lost control over the wheel after the vehicle’s one tire exploded suddenly and the lorry collided head-on with the passenger scooter coming from the opposite side, he added.
Both the vehicles overturned and skidded into a roadside canal.
Locals whisked the seriously injured persons off to Faridganj Upazila Health Complex where doctor declared Jahangir and Ruma Begum dead. Another seriously injured Mamun was sent to Chandpur Sadar Hospital where he succumbed to his wounds later.
The accident halted road communication for some times. On information, the local police rushed to the spot and normalized the traffic movement.
