Three students of Dhanmondi Ideal School and College went during a bath in the Dhaleshwari River in Savar. The incident took place on Saturday afternoon.

Missing students are Rajan, Mehdi, and Akash. All of them are HSC first-year students of that institution.

Savar Police Station SI Nurul Islam said fire service personnel are conducting rescue operations after they went missing around 1:30 pm near the bridge at Bank Town Paschimpara area.

Kibria, one of their classmates, said that 12 friends including missing three, went to visit other classmates, Akash’s house in Savar in the morning. At around 1:30 pm, they went to bathe in the river Dhaleshwari near the house. At that time, five of them swept away with the river-stream while others could return the shore. “When we shouted, people came from the neighborhood and rescued the two and admitted them to a local service clinic. But Rajan, Mehdi, and Akash swept away,” Kibria added.

Their other classmates, Hasib and Jihad, said they were late in the morning to go to college. Due to the closure of the college gate, 12 students went to visit Akash's house in Savar. Then they took a bath in the river. Apart from Akash, all of their home in Dhaka, they said.
