The second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine is being given today (Thursday, April 8) across the country. Besides, the first dose of vaccine will also be given to those who registered for the jab.
SMSs have been sent to mobile numbers for the second dose of the vaccine two days ago. As per the date given in the SMS, the people have to get the second dose of vaccine from respective centers.
Those who took the first dose on February 7 and 8 at the beginning of vaccination across the country will be given the second dose on Thursday, said Dr. Abul Bashar Mohammad Khurshid Alam, director-general (DG) of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS). “At the same time, the first dose of the vaccine will continue as usual.”
He added that those who will be vaccinated have started getting SMS to their mobile numbers. Many of those who received the test vaccine on January 26 and 27 will also receive the second dose. If anyone does not receive an SMS for any reason, they can go to the center and get vaccinated.
So far 55 lakh people have been vaccinated with the first dose, said DGHS director (vaccine) Shamsul Haque. “The total number of vaccines in the country is 1.02 crore. 47 lakh doses are still at hand. There is a deficit of eight lakhs.”
