28 die, over 1500 infected in a day in country

28 more COVID-19 patients died in the last 24 hours, increasing the death toll from the pandemic to 5072 in the country. Besides, the tally of infections has surged to 3,53,827 as 1540 new cases were confirmed during the period.
A press release of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) revealed the information on Thursday.
According to the release, a total of 12,900 samples were tested at 93 authorized laboratories across the country during the time. Meanwhile, the recovery count rose to 265,092 after another 2139 patients were discharged from the hospitals during the period.
The first coronavirus death was reported in the country on March 18, ten days after the detection of the first COVID-19 cases.
The coronavirus, that first reported in China late last year, is now affecting 213 countries and territories around the world and two international conveyances. As of Thursday afternoon, a total of 32,130,722 people has been diagnosed with the virus worldwide, as the death toll rises to 982,513 while 23,704,210 patients have recovered, according to worldometers data.
