26,000 passengers reduced in Akhaura

The passenger has reduced by 26,000 due to no intercity train breaks, closure of mail and local trains, black market ticket, harassment in Akhaura Railway Station of Brahmanbaria.
According to railway authorities, about 5,08,903 people traveled from Akhaura Railway Station in the 2017-18 fiscal year which came down by 4,74,664 in the 2018-19 fiscal year. In this, the revenue of the railway has decreased by Tk 48,08,892.
In the 2017-18 fiscal year, Tk 61,40,07,692 crore revenue earned in Akhaura from passenger and cargo transportation which came down by Tk 60,91,08,800 crore in 2018-19 fiscal year.
There are 14 intercity trains of the Dhaka-Chattogram-Sylhet-Noakhali rail route stopover in the station. Besides, some local trains have been closed. In addition, black market ticket and passenger harassment are the daily occurrences, said Md Kamrul Hasan Talukder, superintendent of Akhaura Railway Station.
All steps are being taken to increase the transparency and quality of passenger service at Akhaura Station, added the station super.
