26 die, nearly 1500 infected in a day in country

A total of 12,869 samples were tested across the country in the last 24 hours
26 more COVID-19 patients died in the last 24 hours, increasing the death toll from the pandemic to 5219 in the country. Besides, the tally of infections has surged to 3,62,043 as 1488 new cases were confirmed during the period.
Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) came up with the information in a press release issued on Tuesday.
According to the release, a total of 12,869 samples were tested at 93 authorized laboratories across the country during the time. Besides, the recovery count rose to 2,73,698 after another 1625 patients were discharged from the hospitals during the period.
The first coronavirus death was reported in the country on March 18, ten days after the detection of the first COVID-19 cases.
The coronavirus, that first reported in China late last year, is now affecting 213 countries and territories around the world and two international conveyances. As of Tuesday afternoon, a total of 33,574,198 people has been diagnosed with the virus worldwide, as the death toll rises to 1,006,868 while 24,893,480 patients have recovered, according to worldometers data.
