254 more dengue patients hospitalised in 24hrs

254 more patients were hospitalised in the previous 24 hours till 8:00 am today,  according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS). 

Health Emergency Operations Center and Control Room of the Directorate of Health said this in a regular online bulletin on Friday.

Of the new dengue patients, Dahaka alone saw 197 people being admitted to hospitals in 24 hours. The rest 57 are from outside Dhaka.

Though most of the patients who were hospitalised have so far been released, 1,049 are still undergoing treatment at hospitals in Dhaka, and 213 outside the capital, the DGHS data said.

A total of 4,475 have been diagnosed in September alone. At least 7,698 were diagnosed in August, 2,286 were hospitalised in July, 272 in June, and 43 were infected in May, according to the DGHS.

According to the DGHS, 59 people have died of dengue infection in the country this year, all whom died between July, August and September. Among the deaths 54 have died in Dhaka division, two in Chattogram division and Khulna and one in Rajshahi division.

According to DGHS, 16,705 patients have been diagnosed with dengue since 1 January this year with 15,656 recoveries, so far.
