Covid-19 has claimed 21 more lives in Bangladesh in the previous 24 hours, raising the tally from the pandemic to 27,439.

On the other hand, the total caseload stood at 15,52,563 as 1212 more tested positive for the virus during the same time, the lowest in four months.

It was said in a press release signed by professor Nasima Sultana, Additional Director General (Administration), Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Monday.

Among the dead, 12 were male and 12 were female.

DGHS said 4.36 percent of the 27,787 samples collected at 815 centers across the country in 24 hours were tested positive.

The recovery count rose to 15,12,681 after another 1,202 patients were discharged from the hospitals during the same time.

The DGHS statistics showed of the people infected from the beginning, 97.43 percent recovered, while 1.77 percent died.

Yesterday, 21 Covid-19 related deaths and 980 fresh cases were reported.

The highest single-day deaths 264 from Covid-19 were reported on Tuesday (August 10).

Bangladesh reported the first Covid-19 cases on March 8, 2020, and the first death from the virus was reported on March 18.
