25 more die, daily infection rises in country

25 more Covid-19 patients died in the last 24 hours, increasing the death toll from the pandemic to 5966 in the country. Besides, the tally of infections has surged to 4,10,988 as 1736 new cases were confirmed during the period.
Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) came up with the information in a press release issued on Tuesday.
According to the release, a total of 12,891 samples were tested at 113 authorized laboratories across the country during the time. Besides, the recovery count rose to 3,27,901 after another 1,961 patients were discharged from the hospitals over the past 24 hours.
Of the total sample tests in the past 24 hours, 13.47 percent tested positive, while 17.40 percent cases were detected from the total tests conducted so far, the release added.
Among the total infections, 79.78 percent patients have recovered, while 1.45 percent died so far since the first COVID-19 positive cases were reported in the country on March 8.
The first coronavirus death was reported in the country on March 18, ten days after the detection of the first COVID-19 cases.
The coronavirus, that first reported in China late last year, is now affecting 213 countries and territories around the world and two international conveyances. As of this afternoon, a total of 46,887,033 people has been diagnosed with the virus worldwide, as the death toll rises to 1,206,103 while 33,790,761 patients have recovered, according to worldometers data.
