The Authorities on Monday have closed the toll plaza at Bangabandhu Bridge due to dense fog to avoid accidents. This caused a long traffic jam on the two sides of the bridge

The bridge authorities closed all toll plaza lanes as the level of visibility of the dense fog below 30 last night. This creates 25-km long traffic congestion from the eastern side of the bridge to Elenga and from the west side of the bridge to the Koddar intersection, said Kazi Ayubur Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Bangabandhu Bridge East Police Station.

The OC also said that the authorities have taken this step due to several accidents at Bangabandhu Bridge for fog. The traffic congestion will reduce when the toll plaza will be opened. Highway police are working to control the traffic movement on highways.
