25 injured as auto-rickshaw workers- police clash in Habiganj

At least 25 people including 15 policemen have injured in the clash between auto-rickshaw workers and police in Shayestaganj upazila of Habiganj.

On Friday morning, the clash occurred in the upazila at Nasratpur from 11 am to noon.

According to local sources, police ordered to stop CNG movement in Habiganj highway in Dhaka-Sylhet. On Friday, workers of the CNG organization protested with Banner-Festoon on the highway. During this time, when police wanted to disperse them, chase-counter-chase and clashes took place between the two sides.

The injured policemen are - SI Delwar Hossain, ASI Abdul Wadud, constable Subet, Akash, Moshiur Rahman, Pranab, Ashraf, Zahirul Islam, Subir, Waqib Mia, Roman Ahmed, Abdul Khalek, Rakib Ahmed, and Maqbool Hossain. The injured workers are also being treated at Shaistaganj Upazila Health Complex and various private clinics in Habiganj City.

Habiganj Superintendent of Police A S M Saamusur Rahman Bhuiyan said that the clash between the workers and the police in connection with the incident of arrest and detention of the highway CNG movement. After the situation, police fired several rounds of rubber bullets and tear shells to control the situation.
