Foreign Minister Dr. AK Abdul Momen says 24 crore COVID vaccines are in the lineup so far. We will receive these vaccines in March-April next year. Around 2.30 crore people already received the vaccine.
“We want to vaccinate 8 crore people in the first step and trying to bring 24 crore vaccines for that purpose. We will get most of these from COVAX,” he made the remarks while addressing reporters at a function organized by the Dutch-Bangla Chamber of Commerce at Hotel Le Méridien in the capital on Wednesday.
In response to a query, Dr. Momen said India has a higher COVID infection rate than Bangladesh. However, the UK imposed a “red alert” on us but didn’t impose on Indian citizens
The UK says Bangladesh has an “African variant”, but we don’t have that here, he also said.
“We request the health ministry to say that Bangladesh does not have any African variants here,” Foreign Minister said, adding that the country will be benefitted in this way.
